Marugoto Helpful Tips!

Japan Foundation has an official textbook called Marugoto and fortunately, some of the material is able to be checked out through the website!

One of the links we will be introducing here today is being able to look at Japanese and then translate in seven different languages (English, Spanish, Indonesian, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and French): https://words.marugotoweb.jp/top.php?lang=en

It also has a collection section, which lists dates and days of the week, as well as time and other useful information! It can be converted to PDF form and printed so it is accessible for everyone. Hopefully this information helps teachers and provide more resources to Japanese language learners!

Shin Ultraman news（シン・ウルトラマンニュース)

Exciting news for Ultraman fans! Shin Ultraman info. has been released and it'll be written/produced by Hideaki Anno (director of Evangelion) & directed by Shinji Higuchi (director of Shin Godzilla). It's planning to hit theaters in 2021!

Nan Desu Kan Anime Convention in Denver!

I hope our wonderful Japanese teachers are having a great start of the school year or having a ! We received information from JBAR ( Japanese Business Associations of the Rockies) that from today (8/23) to Sunday (8/25), there is an anime convention at Denver Sheraton Downtown! Language Immersive Soccer Camp!

There was a great idea that was shared on Arizona Language Association's newsletter regarding a German soccer camp that integrated language and sports! It is such a great way for students to get their bodies moving as well as stimulating their minds with new material! Hopefully these types of activities will be possible with Japanese and if there are Japanese sports camps over the summer, please let us know! We would love to hear more about these types of immersive experiences.

Wa-Shokuiku Online Course Launch

We recently heard about a wonderful online course and wanted to share! This unique online program is starting from September 2019 and it helps students, teachers, and Japanese language teachers re-consider sustainable food choices in local and global contexts. The word Wa-shokuiku combines washoku: Japanese food and Shokuiku: food education. Currently, they are looking for 10 teachers that would be interested in a limited free trial and provide feedback regarding the course. African American Youth Program

Here is a great opportunity to share!

The African American Youth Program is a program that gives young African American freshmen in high school who are from a low-income background the opportunity to go to Japan on a week-long summer program.

It is so important to give our youth more opportunities so they can open up greater possibilities for their future.  Deadline is March 1, 2018.  Eligibility includes: 1) African American freshman in high school 2) Low Income 3) Never traveled abroad and/or struggling academically.

Learn business manners through manga!

This is a fun way to learn/teach Japanese business manners!  Through this book, “マンガで体験！にっぽんのカイシャ　～ビジネス日本語を実践する～,” edited and published by the Kanji Aptitude Testing Foundation (which also administers the Business Japanese Proficiency Test in addition to the Kanji Kentei), you can learn/teach about different commonplace scenarios in the Japanese workplace through manga.

多読, or extensive reading, is a way to read Japanese books by reading a wide selection of books that are personally enjoyable at a comfortable level.  Many students are eager to read in Japanese, so tadoku has been gaining in popularity.  Here are some links to get you started!
